It was a wonderful performance of Mozart's Idomeneo, (almost) in concert form, without scenes or distractions for the eyes.
Conducted by Gianandrea Noseda more with a deferential sensitivity and accuracy than daring passion, Mozart's masterpiece sounded even more sublime.
The Stresa Festival's orchestra played with gusto and the opera was well sung by Francesco Meli, Alessandra Marianelli, Francesca Sassu, Alessandro Liberatore and even better sung by Laura Polverelli. |
